SAN-EI Air Motor

VA Series – Rotary Vane Type (One-Way Rotation)

VA Series Air Motor is a compact rotary vane type pneumatic motor manufactured by SAN-EI SEIKI SEISAKUSHO Co., Ltd. (Japan). It is designed as a lightweight, high-speed, one-direction air motor that can be used similarly to an electric motor in many industrial applications.

The motor operates using compressed air, which pushes sliding vanes inside the rotor to generate rotational motion.


1 Product Structure

The VA series uses a rotary vane mechanism:

  1. A rotor is mounted eccentrically inside the motor casing.

  2. Sliding vanes are inserted around the rotor.

  3. Compressed air enters through the supply port.

  4. Air pressure pushes the vanes outward, causing the rotor to rotate.

  5. Exhaust air exits through the exhaust port after performing work.

This design allows the motor to achieve fast start-up and stable rotation.


2 Main Features

Compact and Lightweight

The VA series air motor is small in size and easy to install in industrial equipment.

Similar to Electric Motor

The rated speed is 1800 rpm, making it usable in applications similar to electric motors.

Compatible Mounting Dimensions

The motor has the same shaft and flange size as equivalent electric motors, making replacement or integration easier.

Flexible Installation

The motor can be mounted in multiple ways:

  • Face mounting

  • Flange mounting

  • Base mounting

Reversible Rotation

Although it is a one-way motor, the rotation direction can be changed by replacing certain internal components.

Vertical Installation Possible

The motor can also be installed in vertical orientation without affecting performance.


3 Operating Conditions

Typical working conditions include:

Air pressure:
0.5 MPa

Rated speed:
1800 rpm

Minimum practical speed:
800 rpm

If a lower speed is required, a gear reducer should be used.

5 Installation Requirements

To ensure proper operation and long service life, SAN-EI recommends:

  1. Install an air filter in the compressed air line.

  2. Install a lubricator (line oiler) to provide lubrication.

  3. Avoid long-term operation above the rated speed.

  4. Connect the air supply to the designated IN port.
