SAN-EI manufactures multiple types of pneumatic air motors, designed to operate using compressed air. These motors are widely used in industrial environments where electrical motors are not suitable, such as explosive atmospheres, high-temperature environments, or areas requiring continuous operation.

Air motors offer several advantages:

1 Air Motor Product Types

SAN-EI air motors are mainly divided into three major structural types:

  1. Rotary vane air motor

  2. Radial piston air motor

  3. Gear turbine air motor

Each type is designed for different speed, torque, and industrial applications.


2 Rotary Vane Air Motor

VF Series – Rotary Vane Type

The VF series is the most widely used air motor with a simple structure and high rotational speed. It uses a rotor with sliding vanes inside an eccentric casing. Compressed air pushes the vanes to rotate the rotor.

VA Series – Compact Rotary Vane Type

The VA series is a lightweight one-direction air motor designed for applications similar to electric motors.

3 Radial Piston Air Motor

DM Series – Radial Piston Type

The DM series air motor uses multiple pistons arranged radially around a crankshaft. Compressed air pushes the pistons to rotate the crank.

Key Characteristics

  • Low speed

  • Very high starting torque

  • Strong braking performance

  • Suitable for heavy load equipment

These motors are often used in equipment requiring large starting torque, such as winches and hoists.
