SUNTES NCL lock-type centrifugal clutches combine a centrifugal clutch and a gear clutch in a compact compound assembly. The range includes NCL, NCL1B and NCL2B configurations, each listed in sizes 136, 156, 186, 218, 248 and 308. The gear-clutch section provides a selectable mechanical connection, while the centrifugal section controls progressive load transmission as the engine accelerates.
Gear clutch ON: progressive starting
With the gear clutch in the ON position, the centrifugal clutch gradually transmits the load while slipping as engine speed rises. At the intended rated operating speed, the assembly is designed to transmit power without continuing slip. The illustrated construction identifies the drive shaft, gear clutch, shifter lever, centrifugal clutch and drum. These components perform different functions and should be considered together when reviewing the drive arrangement.
Gear clutch OFF and switching restriction
With the gear clutch OFF, the centrifugal clutch section does not transmit power even if the engine rotates. The ON/OFF position is changed by sliding the shifter lever. The NCL operating instructions expressly require that ON/OFF switching must not be performed while the engine is running. The selector is therefore not an operating control for shifting a running engine between connected and disconnected states. Incorporate this restriction into the machine operating procedure and confirm the installation-specific control arrangement.
Applications and configuration choice
The compound clutch concept supports applications involving engine-only operation, prevention of reverse rotation of the driving machine, automatic engine/motor changeover, cushioned starting and flexible coupling functions. Which functions are provided depends on the complete system arrangement. Application illustrations include engine-driven vertical-shaft and horizontal-shaft pumps. Review the drive layout, operating sequence and required coupling function before choosing a configuration; the three dimensional variants should not be assumed to be interchangeable.
NCL, NCL1B and NCL2B dimensional differences
The tables retain all eighteen model codes and distinguish the dimensional data for each configuration. NCL1B has two complementary tables: the first gives the main lettered dimensions and the second gives the remaining diameters and mass. Both rows for a particular NCL1B model must be used together. For size 136, the listed masses are 145 kg for NCL-136, 205 kg for NCL1B-136 and 265 kg for NCL2B-136. At size 308, they are 890 kg, 970 kg and 1,050 kg respectively. These differences affect layout, support and handling planning.
Selection and order preparation
Provide the exact configuration prefix and size, driving-machine speed and power, driven load, shaft and mounting dimensions, starting frequency and required operating sequence. Include whether the system uses an engine alone or an engine/motor arrangement. Dimensional data and mass do not establish the allowable torque or a universal engagement-speed setting. Confirm the required performance, alignment, support and installation details for the complete assembly before ordering.
